On the road again, again (again)

C'était notre dernière nuit à Eungella, donc dernier matin et derniers ornithorynques. Ca a été un très bel endroit de façon générale, et un super lieu pour voir les petites bestioles, donc une excellente adresse à noter sur un circuit. L'eau fume dans la lumière du matin, et le cameraman de la BBC est déjà (encore?) à poste sous le pont. J'espère quand même qu'il n'a pas passé la nuit là. C'est un métier!

This was our last night at Eungella, last breakfast and last morning platypus. It has been a great spot overall, and a lovely wildlife watching area. Well worth putting on a Queensland itinierary! The water is smoking in the cold morning, and the BBC cameraman is already (still?) in position beneath the bridge, waiting for the elusive cormorant. I hope he didn't spend the whole night there. What a job!

Jour tranquille à Eungella, bis

Après notre épuisante (?) balade d'hier, aujourd'hui c'est un jour farniente à Eungella. Ci-dessous une photo de nos hébergements, vous comprendrez que ce n'est pas le bagne de ne rien faire ici. Il a fait si froid cette nuit que l'herbe est couverte de gelée blanche ce matin (je vous rappelle que les chambres ne sont pas chauffées...), mais très vite le soleil fait oublier tout ça.

After yesterday's exhausting (?) hike, today is a relaxing day in Eungella. Below is a picture of our accomodation, you will agree that doing nothing in such an environnement is not a difficult task. It has been so cold during the night that the grass this morning is covered in frost (let me remind you that there is no heating in the rooms...) but quickly the sun and blue sky are back.

Continuons la balade en forêt... J'ai beaucoup aimé ces drôles de palmes et les jeux de transparence et d'ombre avec le soleil.

The forest hike continues... I really enjoyed these palms, and how they played with the sunlight.

Il n'a encore pas fait très chaud cette nuit, mais le beau temps revient vite. On commence la journée doucement, avec des observations floristiques et faunistiques, cacatoes souffré (il y en a partout), l'ornithorynque du matin, et plein de fleurs bizarres (mais jolies).

It has been fairly cold during the night again, but the sun is up bright and early. We have a slow start to the day, with faunistic and floristic observations, yellow-crested cockatoo (they are everywhere), the morning platypus, and many strange (but nice) flowers. 

Jour tranquille à Eungella

Après le rythme assez soutenu des jours précédents, aujourd'hui on ne fait rien d'autre que se relaxer et profiter des lieux. Les lieux étant plus qu'agréables, ça n'est pas très difficile de s'en contenter. On commence par la balade près de la rivière et l'ornithorynque du matin.

After the fast-paced few days on the road, today is a day for doing nothing, except relax and enjoy the area. The area being more than nice, it is very easy to be satisfied . Early start of the day with a stroll along the river, and the morning platypus.

Et nous voilà donc arrivés en haut. Je n'ai pas réussi à prendre des photos de la route qui monte et tourne, mais pour vous prouver qu'on est bien en hauteur, voilà des photos prises depuis un point de vue aménagé, on voit la route sur laquelle on est arrivé en contrebas (plus visible sur la deuxième photo).

And a little while later, here we are at the top. I didn't manage to take pictures of the climbing, winding road, but to show you that we are indeed elevated, here are some views from a lookout. You can see the valley road we came on (better seen on the second picture I think).
