We have all day in Oslo today. It's pouring rain in the morning so we decide to go visit a museum, and we choose the National Gallery. It's an art museum presenting collections of sculptures (a little) and paitings (a lot), arranged as a time travel through the ages from Antiquity to the 1950s, with a focus on Norwegian artists of the last two centuries. There is a whole room dedicated to Edvard Munch, with the famous "Scream" but also many other paintings, some of which are very powerful (and exhibiting very different styles from the same artist, it's really interesting). I enjoyed this visit very much.

The rain stops after nap time, and we go for a stroll in Frogner Park, the one with Vigeland's statues. I was moved by this garden under the snow, today with the autumn colors and the stormy lights, it's also very beautiful. I know these statues are not everyone's cup of tea, but I find them really strong.

And it's over... Not completely, we still have a bit of a journey left, but it's goodbye to the ship. We try to wake up early, but we still missed the arrival in Trondheim and we are already docked. Express breakfast, last look at the ship (thank you and farewell MS Lofoten, happy birthday and hopefully see you soon!). Off to the train station and pretty quickly we are on board the train to Oslo. Just as the train leaves the station, we see Northbound MS Nordnorge arriving in Trondheim.

Today is already our last day on board, so we want to make the most of it. Easy to do when the weather is so gorgeous! It's a pleasure to be outside to watch MS Vesterålen in the morning lights. Some crew members come out to wave hello (grumpy mode "it was better before" : some things are getting lost in the ships crossing spirit...).

And it's not the end! We are sailing among birds (sea eagles - yes, still cheating - but also many seagulls). The sun goes down, the moon goes up, and it's beautiful.

I booked the "Eagle Safari" excursion, which is not done in winter. I will leave MS Lofoten to board a smaller excursion boat, which will take us for some bird watching and then will take us to Svolvaer. To be honest, I didn't chose this excursion for the birds (it's a cheat, they are lured with fish thrown from the boat, I don't really like that), but I'm hoping I will be able to take pictures of MS Lofoten sailing through the Raftsundet (and maybe better?). MS Lofoten slows down and we board the excursion boat in the middle of Raftsundet.

In Sortland (the administrative center for Vesterålen Islands), I take some portraits of MS Lofoten under the sun. Don't you find her beautiful?

We wake up shortly before the stop in Harstad. The weather is gorgeuous! Beautiful morning lights on the Trondenes church, among the brightly colored trees... MS Finnmarken is docked in Harstad and leaves as we approach. The morning is more of the same, bright sun, beautiful colors... Of the whole trip, this is the day that I look forward the most (with the other day of arrival in Lofoten, Northbound), and this time it will for sure be the most beautiful day of the trip, the one that perfectly sums up a trip in autumn.
