Hammefest, Øksfjord

Aujourd'hui encore je me réveille bien avant la sonnerie prévue, vers 6h20, et quand je jette un oeil par le hublot, il faut que je m'habille et que je sorte, vite vite! Le lever de soleil est absolument somptueux aujourd'hui et j'en profite longuement, sur le pont plutôt désert.

Today I wake up before the alarm, around 6.20. As always, a glimpse through the window, and I have to get up and go outside, quick! The sunrise is amazing today, and I enjoy it for a while, on the rather deserted deck. 

Aujourd'hui en fait c'est une journée plutôt tranquille. Entre le demi-tour à Kirkenes hier et les Lofoten demain, c'est une journée un peu plus en creux pour moi, mais bien agréable quand même. On repasse à Havøysund, on croise le MS Vesterålen peu de temps après sous les éoliennes, on navigue entre des montagnes assez impressionnantes, jusqu'à atteindre Hammerfest où on va cette fois jusqu'à l'Eglise (récente, comme beaucoup de constructions dans toute cette région, qui a subi beaucoup de destructions pendant la dernière guerre).

Today is a "low" day for me (but still very enjoyable!), before the next "high" tomorrow with the Vesterålen/Lofoten. We call at Havøysund in the morning, say hello to MS Vesterålen under the windfarm, and navigate between pretty impressive mountains, which we have seldom seen without snow. Then we call at Hammerfest, where we walk around, up to the Church (a recent build, as many of the buildings in this area, badly destroyed during WWII). 

En fin d'après-midi on arrive à Øksfjord, qui est aussi une escale que j'aime beaucoup, je ne sais pas trop pourquoi. Tout petit, blotti au fond d'un fjord, c'est un port qui a de la personnalité. On s'y arrête toujours très rapidement, même pas le temps de descendre à terre, mais il y a toujours du monde à monter.

In the afternoon we arrive in Øksfjord, another stop that I really enjoy, I'm not sure why. It's a very small town, tucked away in the corner of a fjord, it is special. We always stop very quickly, there is no time to go ashore, but there are always many people to board.

Jolies lueurs du soir, mais s'ensuit le début de nuit le plus frustrant possible, car le ciel est totalement dégagé, et il n'y a pas l'ombre d'un soupçon d'aurore boréale dans le ciel! Grrr! On guette quand même jusqu'à Tromsø par acquis de conscience, mais rien à faire, rien à voir. Allez, dodo. C'est vraiment frustrant.

Interesting sunset lights, but then we have the most frustrating evening ever. The sky is totally clear, and there is not the faintest sign of Northern Lights. We dutifully peer at the sky until Tromsø, but nope, still nothing. So we go to sleep. Very frustrating.
