Balade en forêt (2)

Continuons la balade en forêt... J'ai beaucoup aimé ces drôles de palmes et les jeux de transparence et d'ombre avec le soleil.

The forest hike continues... I really enjoyed these palms, and how they played with the sunlight.

A défaut de la grande rivière, on croise de très nombreux petits ruisseaux. On est en saison plutôt sèche en ce moment, mais on imagine bien que les larges lits peuvent rapidement se remplir.

We cross many small brooks. Water levels are low during the dry winter season, but you can easily understand that they can significantly fill up.

Et finalement la rivière, la voilà! On fait une pause déjeuner dans ce chaos de rochers qui crée tout un ensemble de cascade. Là aussi ça doit couler sérieusement en période des pluies, aujourd'hui c'est plutôt calme (et toujours beau).

And we finally can enjoy the river! We have a lunch break in this chaos of rocks, creating a series of waterfall. It must also be quite an eventul area during rain season, today is rather quiet (and still beautiful).

On termine la balade vers 14h... Près de 4h pour faire 8km, il n'y a pas trop de quoi se vanter, mais bon, avec deux personnes sur les trois qui font des photos en chemin, ça n'est pas très étonnant. Je crois bien qu'on voit encore des ornithorynques en arrivant, ça devient banal (mais pas lassant), ce petit serpent aquatique que je n'ai pas pu identifier est plus inattendu!

We return back "home" around 2pm. Almost 4 hours to hike 8 km is nothing to brag about. But it's not very surprising when you know that 2 out of the 3 hikers are mostly busy taking pictures! We may have seen platypus again in the evening. This water snake swimming its way across the river is more unexepcted!

Un nouvel oiseau pour ma collection, le grand réveilleur (oui, il a un cri particulier).

Another bird for my collection, this one is the pied currawong.

En fin de journée, encore apéro au coin du feu avant le repas au restaurant. Le restaurant a une large baie vitrée donnant sur une terrasse où on peut observer des animaux le soir (avec un peu de triche car le cuistot met les épluchures à disposition...). Dans l'ordre d'apparition, un kookabura...

At the end of the day, we enjoy again a drink by the fireplace before dinner. The restaurant has a large bay window over an outside terrasse, from where you can see animals in the evening (lured by the food scraps left by the cook, to be honest). In order of appearance, one kookabura...

Puis deux...

And two kookaburas...

Puis trois!

And then there were three!

Et un possum tout mimi. C'est assez fascinant de le voir manger, il a des gestes très précis et gracieux.

And a cute little possum. It's fascinating to see it eat, with very precise and graceful moves.

Une belle journée,  encore plein d'images dans la tête en allant se coucher!
