Today is my favorite day of the whole journey, the one which I think goes through the most dramatic and beautiful landscapes. But when I looked at the weather forecast yesterday, there were threats of a very cloudy day, whichi is a pity. I missed the stop in Harstad again in the morning, and part of the sunrise which I wasn't expecting to be so beautiful. I have the end of it, real nice. Where is my cloudy sky? (no complaints at all, but tip : do not trust the weather forecast).

There are beautiful lights on Harstad when we leave. There is a thing throwing water in the air in the sea in front of the town, I thought at first it was a rescue ship exercising but that's not it, and it doesn't stop. So what is it? A sea fountain? Mystery.

Trondenes church just as we leave Harstad.

We start the first nice sailing, which ends by the familiar red house with straw roof (another perspective on it this time, it's actually not alone).

And we are on our way to the Vesterålen. I'm really glad the forecast was wrong, we have another day of amazing weather. We are so lucky with the weather during this trip (I've said it already I think, but we really are).

We sail through the Risøyrenna channel, dug into the shallow sea bottom, it's a beautiful and spectacular moment in all weather.

I'm always happy to see that the brave little tree on the small island in the middle of the channel is still alive. I've come here for 13 years and it hasn't grown much though. On the stone pilar on the left there is a sea eagle (there is often a sea eagle there, is it always the same one?).

Short stop in Risøyhamn. The night must have been cold as everything is covered in frost (the ship decks also this morning were quite slippery).

And we're on our way again, under the bridge, for an amazing sailing until Sortland (administrative center of Vesterålen) and Stokmarknes. The landscape, the lights, the sky, everything is magnificent.

Someone actually found the good spot to enjoy the views. He (or she, not easy to say, and it doesn't really matter) will stay there for the whole afternoon.

We arrive in Stokmarknes, still nice lights. Good surprise, the old MS Finnmarken (in the Hurtigruten museum) is finally getting rid of its horrid corrugated iron roof and most plastic tarps, so she starts looking sharp again. You can see on the right the first pilars for a big glass structure which will finally bring her the protection she deserved (impressive work).

MS Finnmarken was built 10 years before MS Lofoten, but has stopped sailing in 1996. Our "old lady" is very brave.
